You can probably tell from the use of ‘tea’ in my blog name that I’m a northerner; up here we call our evening meal, tea. You may also be able to tell that my name is Lucy. What is a little misleading is that this blog isn’t only for tea, I eat out at any opportunity I can get whether that be breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee, cake, afternoon tea, takeaway…you get the picture.
To give you a bit of background, I am 21 years old, just finished a psychology degree at Newcastle University, and from the small town of Todmorden in West Yorkshire. Oh, and of course, I LOVE food. I never used to like food, in fact, my parents used to have to force it down me and I have memories of being kept in the dining hall at primary school while all my friends went out to play. This may sound strange, but what seemed to spark my interest in food was being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. There’s something about having to inject for each meal that makes you really appreciate what you’re eating. Have you heard the phrase “Is it worth the calories”?, well I often say, “Is it worth the insulin”… it usually is!

Just to give you a taste of what you might be seeing on here I’ve forced myself to answer 5 questions any true foodie struggles with:
- What is your favourite restaurant cuisine? Italian
- What is your favourite takeaway? Chinese all day everyday
- What is your favourite chain restaurant? TGI Fridays (and has been since my first ever visit)
- What is your favourite dessert? Difficult, but I think I’ll have to say cheesecake. Although I am partial to a Megan’s Muffin (stay tuned for a blog post of these goodies)
- What is your favourite meal of the day? TEA of course (or evening meal for any non-northerners reading)

My food blogging journey started around this time last year when I got sick of people asking, “Do you ever eat in?”, as from my social media, you’d think I don’t have a kitchen. So, I decided to start an Instagram account to store all my foodie photos and share them with people who love eating out as much as I do. A lot of my friends started creating their own “Finsta’s” (Fake Insta accounts where people post what they’re too afraid to post on their personal account). This wasn’t me so I decided to do a different take on the “Finsta” and make my own Food Insta! I didn’t know where it would go but all I know is I enjoy the foodie friend who gives advice on where to get the best grub for the right occasion. If anyone would like to give me a bit of love and follow the account it is… @northerneats_. I wanted to take it a little further and start writing more in-depth reviews of my favourite places in a chatty sort of tone; hence this blog.
This is the first time I’ve written anything like this but since I’ve got a lot of spare time after graduating, I thought it might be nice to share all my food experiences with people as food-obsessed as me.
Thanks for reading x
