With Hebden being only 10 mins away from where I live, it’s always on the cards when I fancy a day out, or even when can’t be bothered to cook tea. I usually like to have a combination of tea, breakfast, cakes, lunch, sweet treats etc on here, but when racking my brain for my foodie favourites of Hebden Bridge they all seem to be savoury choices. But I promise they’re all worth a try. When I go out for tea in Hebden it is honestly a real struggle to decide where to go these days! This isn’t even half of the places I love but I like to keep these posts as a quick read so here are my ultimate top 5 of the moment.
Chapter 17
It has to be said that Chapter 17 is my absolute favourite lunch in Hebden and my Instagram can confirm this. Although, I’m the worst food blogger ever when it comes to this place and I just order the same thing each time! It’s just too good what can I say. It’s the platters that have captured my heart and my stomach and I just cannot be parted from these wondrous creations. I know it’s a simple idea and everywhere does them, but Chapter 17 offers the right level of fullness, variety, and aesthetics to keep me coming back for more. I’d like to claim the breakfast pic as a time when I branched out but that was my boyfriend’s choice. I’ve only ever been for lunch here, but they have all sorts of deals on throughout the week that I’ve been meaning to try for tea, I’ll get round to it one day I’m sure.

La Perla
La Perla is up there with my favourite places to go for tea in Hebden Bridge. This Italian has the nicest food and won’t break your bank. They have early bird times EVERY DAY where you can have 2 coursed for £12.95 or 3 courses for £14.95!!! You’ll be full for the next 2 days at least, and all for less than £15. What I love about this place is that you can get half a portion of pasta for your starter (although be careful because you may not make it all the way to dessert if you’re going for a carby main also). My favourite pasta they have is the penne stroganoff, its so creamy and delicious. I have to also applaud this place for the addition of their tomato-based sauce alongside their calzone. Don’t you hate it when you get nothing to dip your dough in and it all ends up being super dry? Well, this place has it covered.

Il Mulino’s
So, Il Mulino’s WAS my favourite Italian in Hebden and in some ways still is, but when La Perla arrived I always seemed to favour it over this one. They have very similar menus but slightly different dining experiences. Il Mulino’s offers a more traditional family-run kind of vibe with a rustic interior and authentic décor. La Perla is more of a fine-dining kind of place that simply offers Italian cuisine. One thing that La Perla is missing, however, is the deep-fried mozzarella starter that brings Il Mulino’s back in the running for tea when I fancy Italian. You’ll also find that you can get your early bird even cheaper here (2 courses for £12.50 & 3 courses for £13.95), but only Monday to Thursday. Try both and let me know which you prefer?

Quercus
Quercus is my newest favourite in Hebden located right in the square where you can people watch to your heart’s content. This place is home to some of the best burgers I’ve tried in my foodie life-time (I can only think of 2 more places I prefer off the top of my head… and I eat A LOT of burgers!). Their menu is short and to the point offering only the best. Each time I go I tend to try a new side dish and have gotten to the point where I order all of them because I can’t decide which is my favourite. The halloumi fries are a must, and I recently tried their short beef ribs which were to die for, oh and the Q-balls are a necessity too! See my problem? My critique for this place would be to offer more desserts, they usually have 1 or 2 on but they’re never quite what I fancy, but that maybe me just being greedy. Since writing this blog post a week or 2 ago, I have recently heard that Quercus has closed!! I’m absolutely gutted but I believe they still deserve their mention for being such a fab place.

Aya Sophia
Aya Sophia has been around for ages, but I’ve only just in the past year or so truly discovered it! They offer a traditional Greek cuisine in a rustic atmosphere with the most fabulous looking (and tasting) cocktails. What’s not to love? Everything I’ve tried here has been so tasty and such good value for money! I’ve also been to one of their cocktail nights that can be organised for birthdays or hen do’s or just for a girls night out. I think it was about £25 a head and I got enough cocktails to induce a hangover the morning after, and enough food to give me a food-baby, which in my eyes is a good night! If you don’t have any holidays booked for the foreseeable, this place will make you feel like you’re out for tea on a lovely Greek island.
If you’re not wanting to go full out on restaurant dining, Hebden is always nice for a day out to stroll around the unique boutiques, shops and market stalls and grabbing some fish and chips usually does the trick while sat on the canal or feeding the ducks by the river, or people-watching in the park. Either way, you’ll have a lovely time in this cute little town.
