It seems I’ve found myself in self-isolation much like the rest of us as my workplaces are closed. I intend in this time to write (the long list) of blog posts I’ve been wanting to share with you all but never had the time. So where better to start when trapped at home than my HOMEtown where I’ve lived with my family all my life. It’s only a small place so this may not be the longest post, but I think this up and coming town deserves a mention. Now I know none of us can go out for food but why not use this time to make a bucket list of all the places you want to try when we’re free to do so (I already have so many on my list).
Site Pizzeria
Firstly, a little taste of Italy that entered our town not too long back and allowed us all to have an evening out without venturing to Manchester or Leeds. Site is the perfect balance between good food and a relaxed atmosphere, but you can pop on a pair of heels and a snazzy hair-do and no-one will bat an eyelid. It’s only small so I’d recommend booking, the word has gotten around town about this one. The menu is small and to the point and follows the theme of a building SITE. I love little touches like this to personalise a restaurant. I do have a small issue in the absence of garlic bread on the menu but it’s just something I’ve learnt to live with and actually made me branch out to try their other starters (probably a clever move from them).

Buttylicious
Buttylicious is one of those places that doesn’t sound like (or look like from the exterior) it would change your life but OMG if you have the pleasure of trying ANY of their burgers you’ll never look back. After having my first takeaway here I went back every Friday for a whole month. I highly recommend getting yourself a portion of their Filthy fries to accompany your burger, they’re the ultimate of cheese, jalapenos, paprika, pink onions and gherkin. I don’t even like most of those ingredients but together… (drooling emoji).

Woody’s Pizza
I only tried Woody’s 4 nights ago after hearing that you have to wait quite a while for their food and I get very hangry so was kinda avoiding it. But I decided the time had come to know what all the fuss was about. Indeed, we did wait 2 hours until we could get a slot, but I knew from the smell coming from those pizza boxes that we’d made the right decision. We got 4 pizzas (11-12 inch – you can get 15-16” too!), 2 garlic breads and 2 portions of fries between 4 of us. We did NOT need it all, but leftovers are the best part am I right? I got the New Yorker which was fab but after trying the Carbs Before Marbs this had to be my favourite. I have to admit, the sides were probably the best part for me, the chips were so well seasoned, and the garlic bread was soooo fluffy. £6.50 for an 11-12inch you really cant go wrong.
Megan’s Muffins
Time to add a bit of sugar to the post now. You may know that I’m a huge fan of Megan’s Muffins by now so of course this Todmorden-based home baker had to feature on this post. She’s the savour of all our sweet cravings. Make sure you follow her Instagram @megans_muffins_ to see all of her brownies, blondies, cupcakes, rocky road, celebration cakes and even cookies now. If you’re quick, some nights she posts spare boxes on her page that offer a mixture of her creations ready for you to pick up from her home. I will be queuing at the door when she re-opens after all of this madness.

The Top Brink Inn
This pub is the epicentre for families in Todmorden on a Sunday afternoon. I think most of us around here have grown up on their cumberland sausages. The Brink has also been my workplace since I was 14 years old starting as a waitress and I’m so grateful for their support in whatever I want to do and always having me back when I needed it. Anyway, the important thing is that the food here will leave you 100% satisfied guaranteed. If you’re needing a comforting pub meal, we’re the one. THE CHEESY GARLIC BREAD IS THE BEST IVE EVER TRIED (and I’ve tried A LOT!).

The Vedas
So, I haven’t been the biggest fan of Indian food until now (pls don’t kill me), but The Vedas in Todmorden has changed me and I’m so grateful for it! This place is another that makes you feel like you’re city centre dining (but for a fraction of the price). I’m only on Korma so far but watch this space kids…

Another great blog Lucy, I have tried all these places and agree wholeheartedly with you. We are lucky at having these eating places in such a small town. Keep the reviews coming and more importantly the pictures!

Thanks for this Lucy, a bit of positivity for a change. We are lucky to have all these places to eat on our doorstep. I for one will be staying local when we can enjoy these delights.
